"The IBM Thinkpad T43 is a great laptop. I recently bought this and am very impressed. If you have children that need a starter computer this is it. I mean it works great t for everything but is doesnt have the newest operating system. It is also a great computer to give to your older parents that are not computer users. It is a great deal."

"I bought this IBM thinking it would be the best but it would not update and the processor is very slow. A week after I bought this the keyboard stopped working. Not a very good product at all."

WHAT'S THE MEANING?

Mainframes are large high-end computers utilized by big organizations and companies for bulk processing of data. Information such as consumer statistics, census, and industry data are handled by mainframes. These units can also perform tasks like enterprise resource planning and processing of transactions.

DID YOU KNOW?+

IBM, also known as International Business Machines, boomed in the 1980s as a company that is focused on manufacturing computer hardware and massive mainframes. IBM is a huge player in the tech industry. After some time, they branched out and started selling desktop computers, services, and software. But despite the promising possibilities the company has, did you know that they sold their PC line in 2005 to Lenovo? Yes, the company hasn't been producing new IBM laptops ever since. It was due to the fact that their PC business stopped being profitable.

Lenovo Group, the biggest PC maker in China, got the whole line of IBM laptops, desktops, and notebook computers. So what does IBM do now? Well, they decided to stick with what they do best, make mainframes and other computer hardware such as AIX servers. It was a good career move for both companies because thanks to this deal, Lenovo is now one of the top performers in the PC industry, mostly known for their ThinkPad laptops. And IBM is still earning hard cash for their PCs long after they have sold the line!

"This is a pretty fast laptop for all sorts of work, but I think it’s way too expensive for a 2015 computer. Amazon’s currently charging $900 for it. That’s as much as I paid when I got it new in 2015 for work purposes. Mine still works really good 3 years later, so you can count on it being a reliable computer (even if you get it used, as long as it’s not damaged it should keep working for years and years). I did need to upgrade the battery last year; my new one has 14 hours of life, which is way better if I’m doing field work or travelling, which I often am. I’ve also dropped mine a couple times and it’s never suffered damage, so that’s nice. Solid 4 stars, not amazing but super reliable, which is what I need it to be. "

"Lenovos have gone a bit down hill, but still a good laptop. I guess not technically an IBM anymore I don't think, but still a good middle of the road machine. "
