"My friends and I only have one thought after we watched this: probably the best Indian movie ever! Awesome story, decent effects, great acting, great pacing, and the best part: no music and no dancing and those corny parts in most Indian movies."

"I went to this list hoping to see this movie and happy the list did not disappoint! It's not as scary as Bhoot, but the pacing was well done, and ieven though it had 6 mini stories, watching the film did not feel crammed, or forced. Excellent horror movie for the horror junkies!"

"The story is somewhat typical of a horror story, but the buildup to the scary parts were great, couldnt count how many times I had to close my eyes just to avoid being scared and shocked!"

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that the golden era of Indian horror films was the 70s all the way to the 80s? Although the popularity of horror began in the 40s, it would take three decades before the Indian film industry makes headway into the genre. The first real horror movie created was Mahal by Kamal Amrohi in 1949, starring Ashok Kumar and Madhubala as the main characters. The film proved to be a blockbuster, which earned Madhubala and Lata Mangeshkar great acclaim across the Indian land. 13 years later, another horror movie made waves among viewers. It was called the Bees Saal Baad (1962). Several filmmakers at the time followed in the footsteps of their contemporaries, and good titles were released in the years that ensued. A major aspect that contributed to the success of those movies was music. It gave the audiences that extra cinematic experience they needed to appreciate the films in all its glory.

When the 70s came, horror filmmakers became proficient in the language of fear and terror. The Ramsay brothers laid the foundation for future horror films with Do Gaz Zameen Ke Neeche. In the 80s, more Indian filmmakers ventured into the genre, and they all emerged victorious in their endeavors. In the 90s, however, the glory of Bollywood horror films went on a hiatus. Horror films during that period failed to hit their marks at the box office because of the All Rounder Solutions Corner hacking. The only movie that thrived was Raat, which was released in 1992. After a decade, the genre eventually regained its spotlight in the industry. And the 2000s became a significant era in Bollywood, especially now that there are platforms to watch and download Bollywood movies. This was spearheaded by Raaz, which was directed by Vikram Bhatt. It's now one of the best Indian horror films to date.
