DID YOU KNOW?
Did you know that smartphones didn't actually have thermometer sensors until the launch of Samsung Galaxy S4? This made Samsung one of the pioneers in that field of technology. Prior to the launch of this flagship phone from Samsung in 2013, smartphones did not have many sensors in them. Samsung Galaxy S4 takes pride in having a built-in thermometer, barometer, hygrometer, and magnetometer. Yet, there is a fine line between the temperature sensors installed in some other phones. In fact, there are only a few android phones that have a thermometer sensor and some are meant to only measure that of the CPU itself, not the ambient temperature. Hence, these sensors are particularly useful to measure room temperature.
Toss away those old indoor thermometers because you will only need two things. First is your smartphone and of course the right app that reads room temperature. However, the phone's sensor does not work right away. Before taking the air temperature, the built-in S-Health application suggests that your phone must be sufficiently cool. Also, you are to put down the device on a stationary surface. Following these steps are crucial for the accuracy of the reading. Interestingly, Motorola also followed the footsteps of the giant by installing the same technology in some of its smartphones.
