"I got this book as a gift from a friend. I had never heard of it before, so decided to give it a read. I could not put it down. Reading about the childhood love that didn't last, and then the couple finding each other several years later was just so heart wrenching to me. It reminded me of that special someone that I left behind so long ago. A really great read."

"When it comes to inspirational novels, it is hard to classify a Herman Hesse book as just this. While Narcissus and Goldmund is inspirational at its core, it is not as cut and dried as many inspirational novels, nor as easy to understand. But it is an excellent book and of superior quality like any Hesse book, so if you're willing to dig deep, this is a good option."

"I don't know if I would consider this one of the best inspirational novels. To me it seemed to be more about friendship and loss and imagination more than inspiration. I read it years ago when I borrowed my niece's book. Because she loved it so much I thought I would too but I really didn't. Not sure if I was just too old for it or what, but I had trouble getting through it even."

"This was my first Paulo Coelho novel and I wish I hadn't waited so long! This book is full of gorgeous storytelling about the nature of humanity and the joys we can find if we conduct ourselves with humility. I love how magical it feels--the prose is perfect--and even though I'm not particularly spiritual I felt myself moving along toward enlightenment with the characters. Put your cynicism aside for this one, and get ready to turn yourself over to the miracles of love."

"As one of the "young adult" that this book is aimed at, I found it to be extremely informative without being condescending. A lot of the things in the book are things that I wouldn't have even thought of at this stage in my life. I also really enjoyed the fact that it was humorous, whereas a lot of books on this topic are way too serious to the point of being boring. I gave my copy of this book to my teenage brother, who has absolutely loved it so far. I would absolutely recommend this book to any and everybody with a young adult in my life."

As much as I love this book, I think it fells short at giving good and clear advice for someone who is interested in improving their nutrition. It gives you the basics and tells you why you should be healthy, but it does not deliver with actionable suggestion. It's an ok self-help book, and by no means a novel of anything substantial. "
