DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that prior to the invention of the moveable-type printing press in 1447; wedding announcements in England were typically broadcast by means of a town crier? Also known as a bellman, a town crier is an officer who is officially appointed and makes public announcements as mandated by the court. Eventually, hand-written invitations in calligraphy form and digitally-printed ones came into existence. But don’t you think it is still very nice to receive traditional wedding invitations nowadays? Imagine the scent of the paper and the oil-based ink used, and sometimes the paper smells like coffee or some old rose.

Well, if you are the bride-to-be, you might want to invest time and effort in making your invitations as they are more than just invites—they represent a part of you. Start off with defining your style. Alongside the mentioning of date and location, you should first consider the kind of event you are throwing. Do you want something classic and elegant, or some kind of laid-back and casual, or glamorous and modern? In between times, finalize the hues and motif, and incorporate them into your invites. Be practical; consider the costs. Strike a balance between maintaining it stylish and making it fit within your budget. If you don’t want to start on scratch, there are poster makers apps to help you out (they have ready-to-use templates). Amidst all the aesthetic considerations, pay attention to the content itself. Make sure to spell out everything except Mr. and Mrs. on the outer part of the envelope. The address should be spelled out—the street, the avenue, city, state…everything! Lastly, do not forget your thank-you’s.
