"The restoration here is very good. It really helps you appreciate the cinematography and the overall look and feel of the film. It is in black and white and it is subtitled which would put some people off. Overall it is a fun movie and I think you might enjoy it if foreign language films are your thing."

"The Garden of the Finzi-Continis is a classic film about northern Italy during the rise of fascism, and is acclaimed for its portrayal of the range of reactions within the Jewish community to Nazi persecution. I feel that The Garden does a superb job of emphasizing the extent to which each Jewish economic class reacts to the political climate until, inevitably yet devastatingly, the impact of its reality becomes universal. My only complaint is that one of the central characters was acted out far more explicitly than is let on in the original literary piece. However, I do not think that this detracts much from the film's political statements. I would definitely recommend this film for anyone curious about Jewish persecution in Italy during World War II."

"This film was nominated for several Oscars. The acting was superb, but I did have moments where my attention was taken away from the film. I was not very engrossed in the story, it was serviceable. It may be because I don't really like dramatic romance movies because I find them cheesy."
