We all know how iconic Joker is. Out of all DC villains, he might have to be among the most intriguing ones. Without any superpower or otherworldly origin, he has been able to create acts of terror with just his wacky gadgets and insidious smile. While being forever linked to being Batman's arch-nemesis, his true motives are often hidden behind his fancy appearance and sinister plots. Joker has been immortalized out of his comics origin by way of numerous top-grossing films. Heath Ledger took the character to unreachable heights when he played the role in 2008's 'The Dark Knight'. However, 2019's Oscar-nominated movie Joker has put the supervillain in another light. By way of Joaquin Phoenix and his spectacular acting, director Todd Phillips was able to tell a story that wasn't expected to be told out of a Joker movie.
The movie was able to show people another facade of the notorious villain. Although still evil as we know him, Joker is as human as he can be. A lot of the words spoken by Joaquin Phoenix in the film can connect to people in a lot of ways. Whether you are a fan of the malicious clown or not, you can't deny that the film relates to reality through its profound storytelling and superb character portrayal. If you were able to watch Joker, you would surely get what we're talking about. If you haven't, chances are you're in for a surprise getting to hear some unexpected words coming out of The Joker's mouth itself. Here are some of the best Joker movie quotes you need to know. At the end of the day, you might learn something from a DC villain more than you can imagine.
All along, we knew that Arthur Fleck is going to be known as Joker. However, when he appeared on Murray Franklin's show, his character took the turn for the worst, or for the best, depending on your preference. When he blurted out, "Can You Introduce Me As Joker?", fans knew that something mind-blowing was going to happen during that TV guesting. Ultimately, 'The Joker' really came to life as he shot Murray lights out.
Arthur Fleck sure had made brutal mistakes. However, this does not take anything away from his cause of revolt and revenge. In this Joker movie, we see a different kind of villain from that one who purely dwells on evil plots. We see the struggles and the stories behind a broken man who just wants some kind of help. After inspiring violence around the city, all The Joker can say is "Isn't it beautiful?". Well, only he could probably find beauty in the madness.
Now, this Joker quote is one that can shoot you right on the chest upon hearing it. With Arthur's mental condition and his laughing problem something very unusual, problems can arise when some people find it intolerable. The train scene shows how he struggles to deal with it but continues to deal with life by trying to get it right with people. If you haven't seen the card he carries around very well, it reads "Forgive my laughter. I have a condition".
We know Gotham as a city where a lot of madness resides. That is why Batman has come to life and this is also why Joker came to be who he is. With Arthur speaking to his social worker about his condition, he can't help but ask, "Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?". No one seemed to understand this guy's feelings and the chaos that ensued is a direct result of the hostilities that the people around Gotham have shown Arthur.
With different thoughts populating Arthur's head, we can't really tell what ultimately triggers his behavior. Whatever it is though, in the end, it could all be just a joke inside his head. While in custody, when the doctor asks him what goes on in his head, he simply answers "You wouldn't get it". If there is even an explanation to The Joker's madness, it would definitely be hard to fathom.
