DID YOU KNOW?

As of July 2019, the top best-selling Kpop album of all time in South Korea is BTS' Map of The Soul Persona. The album by the Korean boy group was only released on April 2019 and it already sold over 3.4 million copies. BTS is not only one of the most popular Kpop groups but also the most sought after group worldwide. BTS has over a million sales on each of their albums; Wings and their Love Yourself series (Her, Tear, and Answer). BTS is the first K-pop group to earn three #1 spots in less than a year in the Billboard 200 chart. They are also the first K-pop group to top the Billboard 200. Aside from their success in album sales, they also rose to fame with their live performances. In their years as a group, BTS has experienced many firsts. The K-pop group is one of the first Kpop groups to perform live at the American Music Awards in 2017. In the following year, they became the first Kpop band to take the stage at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards.

BTS is currently at the peak but there are also other popular Kpop groups reaching new heights. The third generation of Kpop shows promising talent with both Kpop girl and boy groups. Some of the popular girl groups today include BLACKPINK, Twice, and Red Velvet who come from big entertainment agencies in South Korea. Respectively, YG Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and SM Entertainment. These girl groups have broken records like sold-out stadium tours, fast-selling albums, YouTube views, and more. On the Kpop boy group side, there's EXO, GOT7, Monsta X, and NCT who have a loyal fanbase and talented members who are globally recognized. These are only the Kpop groups of the third generation. Both senior Kpop groups and rookies are still another foundation that builds the popularity of Kpop music today.

"They deserve to be on this list because they are a rising K-pop boy group with so much potential to be even bigger and more famous than they already are in the following years. They may not be what k-pop stans consider as "OG K-pop" or whatever but they are truly talented and if you doubt that, listen to their discography"
