"This is a great laptop. It is powerful but still comes in a sleek form factor. The cooling system works great, and this thing is able to keep clock speeds up even with the most heavy processing tasks. It could use a little more RAM for big data projects but that can be upgraded easily enough. "

"The Alienware AW17R4-7005SLV-PUS is a good laptop for gaming and would be acceptable for use with big data and programming. It comes with 16GB DDR4 RAM and a quad-core processor. The only real negative is that it has a spinning hard drive, and for the price of the laptop I would expect an SSD."

"The Acer Chromebook 15 CB5-571-58HF comes in super handy at a price range that isn't through the roof. All though it does have it's limitations, most things can be worked round with a quick trip to the chrome store."

"I'm a programmer and was recently gifted the Acer Aspire ES 15 laptop as a gift from my brother. Now, as a programmer I generally have fairly stiff requirements in a laptop and to be perfectly honest this laptop just doesn't make the grade. First of all, I think that it is a little too slow with the Intel Core i3 and really would have rather had at least a Core i5 in there. The screen is just too small for my liking at 15.6 inches as I often need a lot of screen space when working on programming projects. It also has Intel HD Graphics for video which isn't going to allow you to do much in the way of gaming either if you're interested in that. The battery life is decent and the build quality is probably the best part. Ultimately, if you're a casual user this laptop might work out for you but for more vigorous usage this laptop really doesn't cut it."

"This page gave a ton of information on the Dell computer and how much data it can hold and what other features it has that would make it a good laptop to use for programming. It was nice to be given the comparisons to other laptops so you can see which one would be best and have all that information in one spot. "

"I've had a bunch of lenovo laptops and this was the biggest upgrade for me (usually, I stick with the cheaper versions for 4gb or RAM. This one is super-fast and well equipped to do just about anything (I can't imagine that big data wouldn't be really pleased with this one!). I do have one small comment, though. After trying this one out for a few months, I just wanted to let you know that the fan can be a little loud. Also, be very careful with your cord. Lenovo cords are VERY pricey if you break yours (I've done that once, and lost it once). So, watch out!"

    #10Dell XPS9360-7336SLV (13.3")

    Dell XPS9360-7336SLV (13.3")
The XPS 13 cleverly fits a stunning 13.3-Inch display in an 11-inch size laptop, making the it the smallest 13-inch laptop on the planet. The XPS 13 has a unique virtually borderless InfinityEdge display, with only a 5.2mm bezel on the top and both sides. That's the thinnest frame on a notebook today.

"This laptop is small and very easy to carry around, but the screen feels big. It has a neat looking display, with a small bezel on all sides and it is super thin. It runs like a machine, with an i7 processors, a big SSD and tons or RAM. I love this thing and it runs smoothly on any work I do."
