"As an avid book reader occasionally I'm looking for books that are somewhat less main stream and stumble into topics such as LGBT issues combined with science fiction and/or fantasy. After some searching I decided to try out "My Fair Captain" by J.L. Langley. I initially thought that this book wasn't going to do it for me but I decided to stick with it and was pleasantly surprised. It is an interesting tale and the dynamic between the older and younger men is quite intriguing. The science fiction elements are good fun and the LGBT aspects are woven intelligently into the story without feeling overbearing, especially for those that typically wouldn't be as interested in such topics. Overall, I highly recommend the book to anyone interested in LGBT and science fiction."

"I am not a big fan of this book. Although this fictional novel uses plain words and touching stories, the characters are not someone I could possibly image in the real life. They behave differently and act differently. I am not able to easily use their viewpoints to experience the stories."

"I wouldn't really consider this a LGBT book very strongly. It is more accepting of openness and the story is good. It could be considered LGBT friendly in that it isn't homophobic."

"Definitely not my cup of tea. I just found it lacking in a few places and not quite standing up to my idea of what it would be. The characters and the story seem a bit bland, and it just doesn't quite hit the mark, for me. I'll be looking elsewhere."

"Since I'm writing a review on the 18th book in a series, you can bet I like the series. Having said that, I'm on the 18th book in the series and the series is getting tired. I'm not sure any series can last for 18 books and this one is no different. I liked this book ok but it wasn't my favorite by far. "
