"This is one of the best game in the looter shooter genre and is one of the few that I have played that never felt too repetitive or grindy. Each mission or quest to gain new gear is challenging and feels satisfying once you complete it."

DID YOU KNOW?

Looter shooters' heavy loot component inspiration goes back as early as the 1970s? Action RPGs like Diablo and Path of Exile influenced and helped popularize this. This traces back to random loot tables in tabletop games like Dungeons & Dragons. Game items, enemies, and level design are random. No two encounters are exactly the same which makes the gameplay and rewards all the more satisfying. Take the popular shooter game genre with its varied weapons and enemies. Add it to randomness and loot-driven nature of action RPGs and you get the birth of a new sub-genre.

The best looter shooters draw heavy inspiration from games like Borderlands. These games pushed and popularized the genre in its early years. This loot component has carried over to today's games. Popular battle royale games like Fortnite use the same concept in their loot systems. Upcoming games like The Division 2 and Anthem spell good things for the genre. It's still growing and evolving to improve and refine its already established formula. We are still early into 2019 and we can a lot of announcements and releases to this fun genre. While we wait, why don't we enjoy the recently released Apex Legends? Squad up!

"While The Division 2 is right around the corner, numerous updates and overall game improvements and housecleaning have this game becoming a solid looter shooter regardless. New modes, plenty of guns to play with, and an interesting approach to looting make this a good option while you wait for its successor."

"It's a looter shooter to the bone, this game will bring to the table 4 totally different classes that feel awesome to play with, also Monster Hunter vibes with both a storytelling gameplay and a vast open world exploration and pve content. The only doubt it's if it will have enough content to convince and keep players engaged without too much grinding."

"The first time I saw this game, I was quickly reminded of another twin-stick shooter, Helldivers. While that game was brutally difficult, this one is more forgiving to newcomers. It's a good-looking game with all of its particle effects and it's one of the more proper survival shooters out there. There's plenty of fun and loot to be had with this game and you should at least check it out once."
