"Why are you reading this review when you could be reading the most amazing sci-fi dramatic manga the 1980s produced? The date shouldn't bother you a second. The art stands up to time and the story is without par. Action, intrigue, and flying motorcycles in a Tokyo destroyed too soon for Godzilla to wreck. I fell in love with this story as an anime, and the manga only makes it more fascinating."

"Fans of the author's previous works will likely enjoy this series but may be surprised at the difference. The story quickly delves into much darker themes than the author's previous works. The artwork is great as always and the characters are well written. Definitely give this one a chance. "

"I can never get enough of post-apocalyptic stories. It's hard to find great manga that with giants that aren't mecha, so this is such a relief. Great writing and great illustrations provide for the dark themes expressed with humor at just the right times."

"I am fond of reading Japanese manga. However, I tend to like mangas that have dark and tragic themes to them. To me, this shows the full scope of human emotion. Lately, the best manga I have read so far that has a dark and tragic theme is the Puella Magi Madoka Magica (Vol 1). "

"This manga is an adaptation of a novel of the same name. The story is simple, a bunch of high school kids must kill each other in an island, the winner is the one who survives. This volume is the introduction to the whole story, so is kinda slow and explanatory in comparison with the following volumes. The drawing style is extremely interesting, it's different to what I'm used to and similar to Junji Ito's style, with more detailed drawing and realistic facial expressions. This is a great manga if you like gore."
