What are the best military TV shows?

A military (collectively known as armed forces) is a heavily armed and highly organized force intended for warfare. Its main purpose is by all intents and purposes, to defend the state/country against any and all external threats to its safety. Its function has extended to duties ranging from population control to political agendas. There are even where it was used for corporate economic interests. Members of the military are quite easy to identify due to their distinct military uniforms. The military consists of various branches such as an army, navy, air force, space force, marines, and coast guards. A nation's military force can be integrated into society quite easily, think of it as a subculture of sorts. They even have dedicated infrastructure built just for them. These could range from military housing to schools, hospitals, even financial institutions.

The profession of being a soldier is older than recorded history itself. Its history has portrayed some epic feats of power and strategies of various military leaders. Some go back to as early as Egyptian times. Other stories tell of military matters among Roman leaders. Also, who doesn't know the story of the first emperor of unified China who was buried together with his army of terracotta soldiers? With such a rich and colorful history, the military was a great source of material for movies and TV shows. You've probably watched a few military shows before. If you're wondering how the new military TV shows are in comparison, check our list below. We've named some of the best military TV shows worth checking out.

"The best military TV show is The Unit based on the book Inside Delta Force by Eric L. Haney. The Unit is an action drama that follows a covert team of special forces operatives as they risk their lives on undercover missions around the globe, while their wives maintain the homefront, protecting their husbands' secrets."

"I wanted a military-themed TV show and what I got is a series about middle-aged men fighting crime. I could have gotten over the ridiculous premise if it wasn't for the ludicrous acting and storylines. I'm not a sophisticated viewer, but come on. I pity the fool who has to sit through this."

"HBO always has great programming, and the military miniseries Band of Brothers is another example of the quality content that HBO releases. I normally am not a fan of military TV shows but this show was an exception. It's easy to understand why this show won so many rewards."
