"While this film does a good job portraying mental illness in young people, I generally wouldn't recommend it for those simultaneously looking for a backdrop relationship that makes sense. Great actors as Barrymore and O'Donnell are, their affection for one another almost seems rushed and mostly focused on sexual attraction. I feel like the writers were aiming for a depiction of a "typical" shallow teenage crush and why they (almost) always fail, but ended up doing their jobs a bit too well. But if you're watching it for the acting, then surely give it a go."

"Secretary is one of those films that you're expected to love just because everyone does. I've tried really hard but just don't care for it. Casting is huge for me in a movie, and I feel like neither James Spader nor Maggie Gyllenhaal were the right actors for Secretary. Spader overacts in everything, which is distracting. And Gyllenhaal is better in more dramatic, emotional roles."

"I like the cast in this movie, they made the movie so realistic. It is a romantic movie about depression, but it is not one of romantic movies that makes you depressed. It is comedy romantic movie and It is not long (95 minutes) so it won't bore you. Watch it if you want to laugh without being extra focused on the movie. I watched it on my tablet."
