"Great movie. It covers multiple generations of a quirky family and all of it's ups and down. The cast is all star, but it has a few slow-ish spots. But there are some really great moments. The little kids steal a few of the scenes away from some of the biggest stars as well. Ron Howard directed it to boot!"

"Big Daddy is a hilarious move starring Adam Sandler. This is one of his older films and in my opinion was created in the golden days of Adam Sandler."

Finding Nemo swam into theaters sixteen years ago and became one of Pixar’s most commercially successful and critically acclaimed movies. It earned $871 million in the box office and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. The story about the overprotective clownfish Marlin, his son Nemo, and the forgetful blue tang Dory resonated in the hearts of families everywhere. To commemorate this wonderful animated movie about the loving fish father, here are a few little-known facts about the film.

Finding Nemo was inspired by co-writer/director Andrew Santon's overprotective nature. Stanton was a relatively new father during the film’s development and found himself at odds with his proclivity to veer into an overprotective territory, much in the way viewers see Marlin combating his neuroses in raising his son Nemo. Stanton also revealed that he loved all things aquatic starting with his childhood fascination with his dentist’s fish tank, so he used this as a funnel for a deeply emotional story about the challenges of being a good father. Another obscure fact about the movie is that the first actor cast in the role of the high-strung Marlin was William H. Macy, not Albert Brooks. When Macy recorded his dialogue for an early screening of Finding Nemo, the producers ultimately felt that he lacked the warmth required for the role. Lastly, several organizations released "anti-flushing" public service announcements following Finding Nemo's release. While Gill’s proclamation that “all drains lead to the ocean” contains a grain of truth, the movie fails to acknowledge that a flushed fish is unlikely to survive a trip down the drain. Water treatment company JWC Environmental and Australia’s Marine Aquarium Council offered public warnings that flushing would prove fatal to any pet fish. So now that you've learned these few fun facts about Finding Nemo, here are other popular animated movies that you might enjoy watching.

"The ultimate father-and-son movie. If you watch Finding Nemo and not feel a tender ache in your heart for your dad then you're made of stone. The animation is astounding, the characters are lovable (especially Dory) and the story is profound. I never thought that I would cry over talking fish. "

"I guess this is, or could be, a good movie for fathers, but it's not exactly a feel-good movie for fathers. Then again, fatherhood is not all about feeling good -- not at all. While the title suggested something I might like to watch with my daughter on movie night, I'm glad I checked it out first. We like to keep movie night a bit more light-hearted. That said, I am glad I watched it. "

"The reviews of this movie almost scared me away. Kevin Smith isn't best known for his warm, fuzzy all-family fare movies. But that is exactly what this is. Extraordinary and touching in its relatable, low-key, inspiring, enjoyable family. You don't have to be a perfect parent to be perfect for your kids."
