"This isn't my usual type of book but I have no regrets reading it. I was never Catholic, but growing up, I knew several people who were and I was fascinated by the ritual of it all. These rituals and symbiology play a big part in this book and I'm sure a practicing Catholic would appreciate reading about them. "

"While this book is a Christian oriented book, it does not mention lent in its summary, so lent may not even be covered in the book. I would recommend choosing a book that focuses more on lent. This book simply seeks to refine the Christian life."

"Anchored in Light is a must-read book for the Lenten Season, it really delves deep into the culture that is slipping away from us. Having been raised as Catholic, I was aware of Lent and a few of the nuances, and then I moved to New Orleans, where Lenten is more deeply rooted in the culture, but I was still unaware of the many nuances until I read this book. A real eye-opener and a guide to preserving faith traditions."

"As a Christian this book has helped me walk closer in my faith because the author has analyzed so many Christian doctrines. He answers questions that arise in the lives of many believers and provides explanations for questions I was always told to "just leave it up to God" or replied with "some things cannot be explained." A great read for Lent."

"Our family has always enjoyed Lenten season, especially as our kids have grown to understand its meaning. "The Cross of Christ" is about exactly what the title says. Together as a family, we learned about the cross and how to live everyday as though we ourselves were Christ. This book really nailed it."

"This is a surprisingly popular book on Amazon.com, earning 4.7 stars from nearly a thousand reviewers. However, people must read this book and then decide to pass it on, because you can buy a used paperback for 25 cents, or a new one for $2.59. That is bargain-basement cheap. The most revealing review claims that this book is not a direct translation of Brother Lawrence's sermons, but has been summarized and re-written by a different author. There may be a book out there written by Brother Lawrence that is a must-read, but it may not be this particular version, which is actually written by someone else ABOUT Brother Lawrence's teachings."
