"It is somewhat difficult to compare all the novels of a certain type from a given year, at least using any tools I am aware of, but this looks to be one of the better mysteries of 2014. I enjoyed the Victorian setting and found the characters to be rich and compelling. The author's other works are well-written too, and I suggest looking into them if you enjoy this book."
