"While Ellery Queen is a master at writing mysteries.. and was VERY famous in the 20th century this is not his best work. It is constantly described as "a cut below" the other Queen Mysteries. If you are a Queen Fan - read it.. If you are not....I'd advise you to start somewhere else. Begin with earlier books (Or almost anything else)"

"This books does not look like a book for all ages. The book even states that the book is for advanced levels so it clearly is not for all ages. I came across this book while trying to find a puzzle book, I looked through it's preview and there was not enough information, although it was very cheaper I still didn't want to buy it."

    #4The Westing Game

    The Westing Game
Described by Booklist as 'a supersharp mystery, confoundingly clever and very funny' this is a bizarre chain of events that begin when 16 people gather for the reading of Samuel Westling's will. A fascinating book full of word games, disguises, aliases and subterfuges.

"This book taught me literary analysis, with its powerful characterizations. I was always discovering something new about this book, and the people in it. It's rare that a mystery is so compelling as to beg repeated readings, but this one does. It's also just a great mystery; why are the heirs gathered together at Sunset Towers? Who was Sam Westing, really? Why were these heirs chosen over all the other people in Sam Westing's long life? But most importantly, what is the answer to the riddle of Sam Westing's will, that will bring with it a multi-million dollar prize? And who will be the heir to discover the answer? Once all the clues are in, the reader will begin to suspect a solution-- but could it really be that easy? Think twice. This book is the very definition of page turner."

"What can I say, it's an Ellery Queen mystery! A a satisfying fair-play whodunnit with all the clues, characters, and a challenge to the reader to figure it out (I got it right!). The murder in this one takes place in a hospital, and initially everyone - doctors, nurses, staff, visitors, even patients - are suspect. Very entertaining and readable, a page-turner. Not the best Ellery Queen I've read (that was The Cat of Many Tails), but good enough for 4.5 stars"

"The Egyptian Gross Mystery is a well rounded book involving a death in a small West Virginia Town. The book was originally written in 1932, so the "mystery" is sort of outdated by today's standards. It's still a really good read, but I found it too easy to figure out."

    #8The Siamese Twin Mystery

    The Siamese Twin Mystery

Trapped on a burning mountain, the Queens take refuge with a killer. Dashing detective Ellery Queen and his father are driving over the pothole-scarred Arrow Mountain Road when they come face to face with a wall of flame. They tear back in the other direction, fire at their fenders, and finally find safety in a clearing, at the home of Dr. Xavier, a renowned surgeon. He is a genial man, but his distracted, mysterious smile conceals dark secrets. Passing through one of the drafty hallways, Ellery's father is startled by a pair of eyes burning in the darkness--the eyes of a monster. Could they be trapped on some kind of mountain of Dr. Moreau? Dr. Xavier introduces them to the rest of his household, including his wife, brother, and medical assistant. Everyone's welcoming, but they also seem anxious and cagey. When the good doctor is found shot to death in his study, Queen realizes that he and his father have more to fear than a pair of sinister eyes. The Queens might have escaped the forest fire, but they have leapt into a situation that's every bit as hot.

"Trapped in the proverbial Old Dark House atop a mountain, surrounded by an out-of-control forest fire, Ellery & Richard Queen must find out which of the doomed souls is murdering the others, one by one, before the fire kills them all. One of the earliest, and best, of the EQ novels, though Ellery's speech patterns and pince nez take some getting used to. The characters are, mostly, defined well enough to care about. Interestingly, the titular Siamese twins are probably the most likable - they're about the only ones who we really, really hope survive!"
