"Although I'm not going to say that this is one of the best mystery books ever, it is certainly one of the best by this particular author. It was progressive when it was written although maybe that doesn't translate to progressive today. "

"This is a great detective story about the ghettos and gang violence. There is lots of sociology attempts to explain how everything happens the way it does. The story is very interesting and a very quick read."

"I got this book at a potluck in the neighborhood. One of my neighbors was getting rid of the series (packing them into our parks 'little library'). With his recommendation, I decided to give it a read. It was pretty fast paced and exciting. I was pretty captive throughout. The series (and this book in particular) reminds me a bit of classic mystery books (so, they can get a little formulaic). But I loved them, nonetheless. The Judas Goat is full of intrigue. If you like mystery, this one is very good. "

"I recently began reading the Jesse Stone mystery series by Robert B. Parker. In my opinion, Night Passage (the first book in the series) is just okay. The books seem to get better as the series moves along. However, I do think that Night Passage is an important introduction to the series."

I became a fan of Robert Parker while at the beach one summer looking for a good "beach" book. I discovered this one and a few others and now consider him to be one of my favorite mystery writers."

"Robert B. Parker has been developing Spenser for years now, and by this the 24th book in the series he really has it down. If you've indulged in Parker's earlier Spenser books, you will certainly enjoy this one as he has continued to lend genuine personality to the lead character. It was a thrill ride from start to finish and surely some of Parker's best work at least up until that point."
