The world is facing its biggest crisis yet with the threat of the coronavirus disease codenamed, COVID-19. The disease that originated from the city of Wuhan, China has spread throughout various cities across the world. It has affected 157 countries worldwide, with the total case nearing 170,000 so far and there seem to be no signs of it slowing down. The disease has unfortunately claimed the lives of more than 6,500 people. Thankfully though, more than 77,000 patients have recovered or are showing signs of recovery. While all efforts are being made to prevent its spread, finding a cure, and put a stop to it, everyone is still on high alert, and rightfully so. Countries affected by the disease have since imposed various safeguards and ordinances to help contain the situation. It is during these times that a government can declare a state of emergency in the country.

A state of emergency is a situation in which a government is empowered to act or impose policies that it would normally not be able to. This can happen during times of natural disaster, medical pandemics/epidemics, civil unrest, or armed conflict. This is exactly what happened when President Donald Trump declared a US National Emergency in an effort to combat coronavirus. This declaration comes with increased financial support for the medical sector. This is with the hope that its citizen - affected or otherwise - will be given proper medical care and attention while the research for a cure is on-going. This announcement has affected every sector and industry in the country, including entertainment. Netflix, among others, has announced an indefinite shut down of all movie and TV show productions that are currently on-going. Check the list below for some of the best Netflix movies and TV shows shut down because of the US National Emergency declaration if you want to know more about this development.
