"This is a paperback version of a lovely vintage (circa 1951) classic about ice skating, friendship, and socioeconomic differences, appropriate for girls in late elementary to middle school. It is one of a series of “Shoe books” that were featured in the movie “You’ve Got Mail.” Unfortunately, there are a number of typographical errors in the book, which detracts from its overall quality."

"This book is about a brother and sister aiming for their dream in the Olympics. I think this would be a great novel on ice skating. It's definitely focused on just that and the front of the cover says it all. "

"As far as novels go, Bittersweet's not that bad of a read. But it's also not entirely about Ice Skating. If you're looking for something like I, Tonya in terms of a book, you're not going to find it here. Like all YA, it's romance romance romance. Blech!"

"This book isn't really about ice skating that much. It's a touching book but I found the message to be a little too naive for the real world."

"I'm not sure I like appropriating the Death Drop that drag queens do for a non LGBTQ book. I also feel like a murder-mystery isn't what I particularly want for a novel about ice skating but I can see the appeal."

"My daughters currently taking up Ice Skating and has been on an Ice Skating frenzy with anything related to it. We recently watched I, Tonya, and she really enjoyed the movie. The Winter Olympics just passed and the Ice Skating events were our favorite events to watch. I decided to get her this book I came across called Skate Crime. She really loved it. I decided to give it a read and found myself enthralled in it too. It's a mystery! A skate crime mystery, you have to love that. Alina Adams does a wonderful job of putting together a very original mystery crime story revolving around something skating. It's a light and easy read but it's pretty captivating."

Samantha is a dynamic protagonist and after you start reading you won't be able to put the book down until you have found the conclusion to her epic story. Despite being YA, this is an excellent book, five out of five."
