"This is a historical novel in which a man, at the end of his long life, looks back at it and reflects on it.This is the saga of a peasant boy who rises to being almost a general, and the tale of how an incredibly cynical man becomes a Buddhist. Well written"

"The Blade of the Courtesans is a thriller story that follows a young samurai. Readers rate this book well, although it can be a little bit on the pricey side. However, it's an interesting story and is still a great read."

"This book was very different for me, and I highly enjoyed it. I haven't ready many novels about feudal Japan, but I have seen many movies in the genre. Much like the movies, some things are explained with time jumping, but this book went at it on a much larger scale, and it was very well done. The story and characters were extremely well developed, making this a great read."

"I think this book has a little bit of everything. The young man in the story is dealing with a different culture while trying to recover from a sickness. He is also enjoying learning different things while he is staying where he's at. The romance story in the book is well written also."

"I do not think the Ronin would be the best fit for this topic. There are better and more popular novels available. For example Musashi: An Epic Novel of the Samurai Era follows the real exploits of the most famous swordsman. "

"While this might be a great suggestion for the most part since it does have a story about a samurai, the only problem is that I'm not sure you would suggest a graphic novel as a regular novel. This suggestion works as long as these are the kinds of novels the user was hoping to find."
