"This, while actually multiple novels, is among the best for anyone, period, so backpackers would be included. If nothing else, the aspiring backpacker may gain some very valuable wisdom for the trail, including the importance of knowing where one's towel is and the basic admonition, "Don't panic.""

"I saw the movie before I read the book, and loved both. The story is wrenching and heartening, and doesn't suffer from lulls in the story or the overly sappy writing that can come with this genre. "

"Another murder mystery book, this is a great read for those who like mystery thrillers. True story about Chris Candless, a stressed out roustabout who suffered from depression. Reading about his life and obstacles will give you a greater appreciation for the little things in life, such as food, water and a place to stay."

"This autobiography is very well loved by its readers. It appears to be very comical with a fresh yet strange perspective on life. There are many good reviews of this tale of a man who travels around Ireland with fridge encountering many different adventures. Although this book adheres to some aspect of traveling, I do not feel it is the best solution for this topic. When researched, the book even falls short of the Top 50 best novels for backpackers list."
