"Jessica Day George is rapidly becoming one of my new favorite authors. Her books are like cotton candy. They're light, sweet, and happy. There are antagonists and hurdles, but you know they'll be resolved and good will prevail in the end. Sometimes things work out a little too perfectly, but this comes across in a more cozy, heartwarming, makes-this-reader-happy way than in an annoying Mary Sue manner. When you just want to take a break from life and get lost in a "nice" book that'll make you smile, Jessica Day George delivers. "

Dashti's ability to overcome all of the hardship and troubles she goes through is very inspiring and the story of her finding love is great. "First book in the series from Patricia C Wrede. This book is labeled as a teen book, but don't think you won't enjoy it if you're older. It has that kind of timeless classic feel for all ages. And a pre-teen would enjoy it too, especially if they are of the curious, intelligent variety. That describes my friend's daughter perfectly, and she's the one who loaned me this book! And it has a real sense of humor, too!"

"The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale is a retelling of the Grimm Brothers' fairy tale of the same name. A princess must disguise herself as a goose girl until she is ready to take her rightful place as the wife of the kingdom's prince. The best thing about this book is the character development. The protagonist starts out as as a bit of a loner, and as a princess, she has people to take care of her every need. As a commoner, she has to be more self-sufficient, and to interact with people and make friends. I greatly enjoyed this book, and I'm certainly not in the target audience. Some parents may find some of the material in this book a bit mature for their kids."

"I think that this book highlights some really important and valuable life lessons for young girls in particular. I don't know that there will be many readers outside of that demographic that will be all that interested in the book however. Although I found that the main character, Libby, was empathetic, there were times where I really grew frustrated with her. I understand that all characters have their flaws, and I am sensitive to the reasons that motivated her behavior, but I still had trouble connecting with her character."
