"I loved Texas style movies about the west and how cowboys would fight Indians away from thier homes. When I saw this book I picked it up at the local book market. I brought it home to read for a couple weeks to see if I was interested in it at all. I only have a few hours at best to myself and reading can’t take all my time up. However after a few chapters I have to say it wasn’t as good as I would have thought when imagining the story from the description. It was a little to slow for me."

"The Old West is a time period that has inspired multiple television shows, movies, and books to be written about it. Though I struggle to watch most movies related to this topic I am an avid reader and am constantly searching for a great wild, wild west story. Hondo by Louis L'Amour did not disappoint! It centers on your typical Old West main character, a self described loner and drifter, with the author writing fabulous character detail throughout. His writing really helped me to feel connected to Hondo."

"I wanted to find something that could keep me entertained so I decided to read the book Brokeback Mountain thinking it took place in the old west. However, the setting wasn't even near the old west which was such a huge disappointment to me. Although there are some romance, I would recommend it if you enjoy romantic novels. However, if you're like me and wanted some gun signalling action then this book isn't for you."

"I thought the book was decent. It was interesting to read when I read it. It did not stick with me that much though. I did not find myself really thinking in-depth about it like I did with other books. It is worth a read, but I don't think you should put down what you are reading to read this immediately. "

"I had to read this in school, and as far as history books are concerned it was better than most. If I didn't have to read it though, I would definitely not have picked it up. I like history as much as the next person, but an in-depth look at one particular event like this is not what I enjoy reading. "

"I thought that the pacing of this story was altogether too fast. I wanted to know more about Rafe and spend more time understanding his motivations, but I felt that the book was too rushed for me to fully appreciate his character nuances. I thought that the book was a little bit too sanitized as well, though I understand it was made with Christian readers in mind. For those who are looking for a tamer, more spiritual kind of Western story, I am sure that this will fit the bill, but for me it lacked excitement and character development."
