"While I love good science fiction, this was nothing like good science fiction. There was too much actual science for my taste, most of which is as horribly outdated as the way female characters are portrayed. I'll stick with the 21st century."

"I personally just love anything that Greg Bear writes, he is a fantastic writer. This book is another one of his bests, the details are great, and it's easy for me to imagine everything he writes. It's a cool science fiction book that transports you to another world with chaos, danger, and lots of drama."

"I must admit that I thoroughly enjoyed Chasm City. Alistair Reynolds truly walked a tightrope as he balanced between the three storylines. The author has a gift, which I witnessed first in Revelation Space and again in Chasm City, for making multiple seemingly unrelated storylines merge seamlessly to create a believable and enthralling plot. My only complaint would perhaps be that the novel ends with a sort of forced cleanliness. Everything seems to fall into place a little too easily, with nearly everything explained. A little mystery at the end of a novel never hurts!"
