    #1ICE - Minimalistic Strategy

    ICE - Minimalistic Strategy
Control your army of ant-like ships. Capture connected enemy bases (remember that you can't simply capture a non-connected base - this would be too easy!) You win when you control everything, you lose when you lose everything. Good luck!

"A really different take on strategy games. As a fan of these kinds of games, there really isn't much great stuff out there for Android, but this is definitely one of those games. It looks quite different from all the other games out there, and it might even look simple, but the game can be really challenging and engrossing once you progress to higher levels. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a different kind of strategy game experience."

"My grandparents live in the middle of nowhere, and one of the problems with their location is that all the conveniences of having a smartphone, like entertainment, are non-existent when I visit them. So I was looking for a strategy game which I could play offline for my next visit. The Battle of Polytopia is a great indie strategy game for Android devices. It provided me hours of entertainment while at my grandparent's home, which was surely needed. "

"I have been looking for an offline strategy game, with no luck. Everything was either not that great, or online only. I had no options for the times I just wanted to play offline. But this game really fit the bill. It is immersive and expansive, but there no need to play with a connection. You can literal bring the whole world it puts you in any where, service or no. There is so much to the game and its set in such a big world."

DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that Mancala is considered the oldest and most classic strategy game in history? Long before the emergence of strategy games on PCs and smartphones, evidence of Mancala games can be traced between 500 and 700 AD in Eritrea and Ethiopia. Etymologically, the word mancala, or sometimes called “sowing” or “count-and-capture”, is derived from the Arabic word ‘naqala’, which means “to move”. A complete round of the games takes about only 15 minutes, ideal for a coffee break! Basically, this abstract board game only requires a board with a series of holes arranged in rows, seeds or stones as playing pieces, and two players who are taking turns to play.

As time passed by, several classifications of strategy games came into existence such as abstract strategy, a game that is loosely tied to a thematic concept. One classic and perfect example of this is chess. Other classifications include simulation, wargame, and of course, the modern-day turn-based and strategy video games which are very prominent and accessible through video game consoles, smartphones, laptops, and computers that are specifically designed for gaming. Players can play on single-player strategy games while multiplayer game mode is also available for those who want to compete with other players. Consequently, the video game industry in the U.S. was estimated to have hit 17.69 billion U.S. dollars in 2016 and the video game players are mainly comprised of ages 18 to 35 years old, garnering 29% of the total population of the players. Some of the most popular strategy games on smartphones today include Battle Fleet 2, Hearthstone, First Strike, and Breach & Clear just to name a few.

"This is an awesome game! It only cost me $1 and is filled with intrigue and classic strategy to beat the opponent. The graphics are simple, you get maps and build facilities for yourself to further your cause. The only negative I have found is that this is supposed to be a story about two companies bringing back resources to Earth and that seems to get a bit lost in the story about two companies competing with each other. Overall, awesome, though!"

"If you are tired of online only RTS games, with a play to win model, check out Rusted Warfare. It harkens back to a time when RTS games were meant to be strategic games where only your ability mattered. If you enjoyed the old school Command and Conquer, or Warcraft games, and want to find an RTS you can play on Android online or offline, check out rusted warfare. And remember no play to win model, which is a huge plus to me."

"I'm always on the look out for strategy games for my Android phone. It is sometimes hard to tell if a game is going to be worth sinking a good amount of time into until you go through and do it. That's why I'm so happy with my choice to start Age of Strategy. It hooked me pretty quickly, but so do a lot of games, it really matters how much I enjoy the game when I've sunk a lot of hours into it. The great thing about Age of Strategy is the game gets better as you go. It is a great game to start and just keeps getting better, I recommend it if you enjoy strategy games."

"I was looking for an old school real time strategy game on the app store and then I faced RedSun. This is a great example that old genres are still hot and that you don't need spectacular graphics to have fun. In addition, I can play the game without Internet connection, so it's perfect when I'm outside home and I don't want to waste my data plan."
