"I have never been a big fan of historical romance but my wife suggested I read this book when she was finished. I was really impressed with the world building but, more importantly, this book allowed me to communicate with my wife about something she is interested in. I will always have fond memories of the conversations we had about this novel. "

"This is by all means a bit cheesy and its plot is something we're all used to by now. However, that doesn't mean it's a bad book by any means of the imagination. It's simply a little predictable."

"Although, I've never read A Kingdom of Dreams, I would have to disagree with it being the solution. I would suggest the Outlander series. Diana Gabaldon is an excellent writer, has made the New York Times Bestseller List multiple times, and continues to find new fans all over the world."

"Okay, romance novels are a complete guilty pleasure of mine. This is a lighter gothic-style, and hits all the right notes. I love the spirit that lets some laughs balance out the drama, and the hero is (ahem) quite engaging. But here's the problem: it goes on too long and the infidelity really, really turns me off. I changed the ending in my head but it still leaves a gruesome taste in my mouth, and I didn't even finish."

"I was a little reluctant to enter the reading world of the typical romance book. However, this book was better than I expected. Each of the two characters are filled with their own fears, ambitions, suspicions and desires. When they come together, at first they are fulfilling their own separate needs, but as the story progresses they realize how many feelings they have for the other person and must decide how much of themselves to trust and give to the other or continue to live in parallel, yet separate lives."

"Good page-turning reading in this book. The Captain and his goal of keeping his prize is intriguing and fraught with peril for her. There is a good plot and character development and the story moves along in a good flow. Set in a time long ago, there are different rules when it comes to the woman a man wants."

"This book is predictable and follows a lot of the same guidelines for what I consider historical romance. There are some disturbing moments during the book, however, such a themes of rape that I'm not used to in "bodice-ripper" stories."

"This is a striking romance taking place in the 9th century, and it's an old-fashioned romance with real stakes and passionate people. There is a lot of strong, believable relationship development throughout these pages, so though the pace is somewhat slow at the start, keep reading for a great time."

"This was just okay. Not as good as Almost Heaven or even Whitney My Love. I'm not saying its bad, but it just never really got me "hooked". I guess Sheridan just seemed like an unlikable character and I really never connected with her."

"The Silver Devil has a pretty dark and interesting story. The writing can feel dull at times and at certain points, you'll be left kind of wondering if the plot is ever going to move forward. The book redeems itself in a big way in the later chapters as the story unwinds."
