Did you know that there's such thing as National Thrift Shop Day? Yes, it sounds just a regular holiday when people are going to flock to thrift stores to score bags, shoes, clothes, and even furniture, at a very affordable price. Yet, for Goodwill, it goes beyond shopping. Goodwill, a nonprofit American Organization in America, has always been a humanitarian advocate. And it has never failed to celebrate National Thrift Shop Day ever 17th of August each year. To better understand the deepest motivations of Goodwill, it is interesting to know that thrift shopping used to bear a negative connotation. For many years, buying second-hand stuff was a sign of a lack of money. Well, thanks to the industrial revolution and the charity works of the early churches, it has redeemed itself. They were the prime movers of donating one's clothes to provide less fortunate immigrants the chance to have decent clothes. In the same fashion, Goodwill sees thrift shopping as something environmental-friendly as clothes are being reused and recycled instead of getting dumped. Yet, ultimately, every purchase from Goodwill contributes to educational programs and livelihood training to people nationwide.

If that wasn't exciting enough to get you shopping at thrift stores, how about this: Did you know that you can actually score designer clothes at only a fraction of its original price? Well, a lot of fashion bloggers on the web has revealed how much they love going to these stores and combing the rocks just to find good designer pieces. Some branded pieces are even vintage! If you wanna own of those classic Chanel bags or Louis Vuitton, but you don't wanna splurge money on a whim, online thrift stores got you covered. If you are the type who likes to shop at the comfort of their home, there are places to buy used stuff online without ramming through the racks!
