"I picked up this book after someone told me that Clive Barker has been compared to Edgar Allen Poe, whose works I adore. Books of Blood lives up to the hype, for the most part. Some parts are a bit too slow and unrealistic even for paranormal. I'm glad I read it but probably won't give it a second read. "

"A Kiss of Shadows (Merry Gentry) by Laurell Hamilton is a decent book for those that like paranormal books for biracial readers. The writing is done well with no real weak spots, but it does lack a narrative punch near the ending. It is mildly entertaining at least."
