Mewtwo is a bipedal feline-like Pokémon created by science. Its appearance is loosely based on Mew. Its body is purple and it has three fingers on each hand. Its tail is thick at the base but thins before ending in a small bulb.

    • Li SongWritten on May 9, 2019
"I had no doubt Mewtwo would be considered as the toughest Pokemon of all time. I have gone through different Pokemon series and Mewtwo's presence would always be an important one. He was the first penultimate boss! Definitely my favorite psychic pokemon."
    • Ai LongWritten on February 10, 2017
"Mewtwo is my favorite Pokemon. I am glad to have found him and all the features of this rare Pokemon. It has a beautiful color that it can project as well. It even has a high level you can get to."
    • Jordan JacobsWritten on March 2, 2017
"Mewtwo is an okay choice for best Pokemon. It has an interesting back story. I think I could name some that are better. "

Charizard is a Fire/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It can mega evolve into either Mega Charizard X using the Charizardite X or Mega Charizard Y using the Charizardite Y. It is the mascot for Pokémon Red and its remake, Pokémon FireRed.

    • Ding YuWritten on May 9, 2019
"Charizard reminds me of the first time I have played Pokemon Red in my gameboy when I was little. To be fair, Charizard is one of the pokemons to have TWO MEGA EVOLUTIONS. I REPEAT, TWO!! Charizard may look scary but I love him!!!!"
    • Ryan BennettWritten on May 26, 2017
"The website definitely does a great job giving information about Charizard, but does it really tell us why Charizard is one of the best Pokemon of all time? I think it could do a better job in this regard. A comparison graph of pokemon may help do that best. The site is good, but could be better."
    • Jose FullerWritten on January 31, 2017
"I think that Charizard could be a lot of people's choice for best Pokemon, but it is a generic answer. There are much better Pokemon. "

Rayquaza is a Dragon/Flying-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation III. This Pokémon is said to have lived for hundreds of millions of years. Legends remain of how it put to rest the clash between Kyogre and Groudon. It is the version mascot for Pokémon Emerald.

    • Adam HowardWritten on May 9, 2019
"Well, one of the best, if not the best legendary pokemon of all time. I have always wanted to get Kyogre and Groudon before--two other legendaries. If you wanna defeat this, get Arceus, an ice type pokemon."
    • Timothy GuzmanWritten on January 14, 2017
"This Pokemon is insanely powerful both in game, and in the lore. I used it throughout Generation III and it has very few weaknesses, and a whole lot of utility. "
    • Norman PangWritten on September 26, 2017
"I am dying for rayquaza "
    • Kyleninjastar10Written on September 27, 2017
"Rayquaza is the best because when it mega evolves it has this epic ability delta stream which helps raquaza gets rid of a 4 x weakness against ice and 2 x against rock and electric so basically rayqaza's only weakness is dragon and he has the most epic move called dragon ascent "
    • Crystal PerkinsWritten on January 1, 2017
"Everyone always thinks Pikachu is like the best pokemon. Well I got you beat, Rayquaa is the best pokemon! A real Badass, you should totally check him out."

Did you know that adults who played Pokemon on Game Boy have special regions in their brains? According to a study at Stanford University, adults who played Pokemon games as kids have specialized ‘Pokemon regions’ in their brains. The research began as a study on young macaque’s brains. It showed that the brains of macaques are more engaged when they see letters, cartoons, and Tetris pieces. The researchers, who are Pokemon aficionados themselves, thought the same would happen to a human brain. They believed that showing the participants Pokemons and Pokemon characters would help them observe which region of the brain was most engaged. The result? Those who played Pokemon between the ages of five to eight, then revisited the Pokemon series as an adult showed that their occipitotemporal sulcus or the image processing region of their brain is more engaged than those of novice players. The positive response to a happy memory is not all that surprising. It is surprising, however, that a specific brain fold can be triggered by something as old as a childhood memory. Hence, the study supports a theory that certain experiences in one’s childhood can develop in specific areas of their brain.

The Pokemon franchise has come a long way since its first release on the Nintendo Game Boy. Pokemon trainers of all ages and experience can download Pokemon game apps for Android and iOS. They can even choose from over four hundred unofficial Pokemon fan games. Moreover, even though there are Pokemon games for PC, Pokemon games are intended to be played for Nintendo's own handheld devices. Yes, you read that right, there is no official Pokemon PC game. Despite that, there are no stopping gamers from playing Pokemon games with the use of emulators.

Suicune is a Water-type Legendary Pokémon that is part of the Legendary Beast trio from Generation II. It runs across the land with gracefulness. This Pokémon has the power to purify dirty water. Suicune is also the mascot for Pokémon Crystal.

    • Omar VelázquezWritten on July 7, 2017
"So after I found Pysduck she told me to find more Pokemons, she said Pysduck is not the best pokemon and to find more. So I returned to the wiki like I did before and I found Suicune, one of three legendary dogs. She was super impressed, I love her and our relationship is great now."
    • Kenneth HallWritten on March 11, 2017
"Suicune is an interesting and cool Pokemon, but it is far from the best Pokemon of all time. It is a very interesting Pokemon to use, but is outclassed by others."

Blaziken is the Fire/Fighting-type Starter Pokémon of the Hoenn region, introduced in Generation III. From Generation VI onwards it can Mega Evolve. In battle, Blaziken blows out intense flames from its wrists and attacks foes courageously. The stronger the foe, the more intensely this Pokémon's wrists burn.

    • He ZhangWritten on May 9, 2019
"Used to play Pokemon Ruby in my gameboy before and I can still clearly remember how I always chose Torchic as my first pokemon If you are into pokemon that has a combination of speed and strength, Blaziken is a nice choice."
    • Ishan MalhotraWritten on January 24, 2017
"So I was trying to get more into the lore of Pokemon so I could relate to my 12 year old son better so we could have better conversations. Well I ended up finding a great website, its like a Pokemon Wikipedia, I found the best Pokemon of all time was Blaziken. It solved my issue."
    • Jeremy MunozWritten on March 5, 2017
"Blaziken is a very unique Pokemon, mainly because of its unique typings. Merging fire and fighting together is very useful, and it can add alot of needed utility to your team."
    • Norman PangWritten on September 26, 2017
"the mew is the best because it hat the dna of every pokemon and is very cute. If they let it out, it will be good and fun."

Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Pikachu is renowned for being the most well-known and recognizable Pokémon. Over the years, Pikachu has become so popular that it serves as the Pokémon franchise mascot.

    • Bob SunWritten on July 2, 2017
"So my son told me after all the research I did I still did not know who the best Pokemon of all time was. He told me it was Pikachu and I went back to the Pokemon wiki and found out if Pickahu isn't the best, he is the most popular Pokemon."
    • Alexander NicholsWritten on September 25, 2017
"I agree that there is good Arguments of Pikachu but don't agree that if Pokemon wasn't base on the cartoon it isn't worth mentioning while not fracturing the show Pikachu is still the best Pokemon ever if not Pikachu then Pichu"
    • Xiang FengWritten on February 21, 2017
"There are good arguments for Pikachu because of the cartoon. If it was based just on the Pokemon itself, I don't think it would deserve to be mentioned. "

Ninetales is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I, and an Ice/Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VII which is exclusive to Pokémon Sun. Ninetales casts a sinister light from its bright red eyes to gain total control over its foe's mind. This Pokémon is said to live for a thousand years.

    • Randy CookWritten on March 28, 2017
"Ninetales is a great Generation I Pokemon, but it is definitely not the Best Pokemon of All Time. It is a great Pokemon to add to your team for sure, but many other fire-type Pokemon are better in the long run."
    • RNIC 18Written on September 26, 2017
"ninetales is the best pokemon "

Bulbasaur is a Grass/Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Bulbasaur can be seen napping in bright sunlight. There is a seed on its back. By soaking up the sun's rays, the seed grows progressively larger.

    • Keith SmithWritten on May 19, 2017
"I have been playing Pokemon for at least the last 10 years. I have long thought of what was the best Pokemon of all time. After doing a lot of research and analyzing my experience with different Pokemon in all the games I have played, the best Pokemon is Bulbasaur. "
    • Adam BoydWritten on June 24, 2017
"This Pokemon is pretty weak. Out of all 3 starters, this one is probably the least popular one, and the least powerful."
  6. #9

Gengar is a dual-type Ghost/Poison Pokémon introduced in Generation I. It evolves from Haunter when traded. It is the final form of Gastly. It can Mega Evolve into Mega Gengar using the Gengarite.

    • Stephen KennedyWritten on February 23, 2017
"So I was continuing to find the best Pokemon of all time, I realized that there may be more then one so I went back to the website I found earlier called Pokemon wiki and found Gengar! This solved my issue for now and now I have more things to talk about with my son."
    • Frank JonesWritten on April 10, 2017
"I don't think there are that many good arguments for Gengar being the best. The only thing I could think of is someone likes it personally. Personal preference isn't enough. "

Greninja (ゲッコウガ Gekkouga) is a Water/Dark-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI. It is the final evolution of Froakie, the Water-type starter from Kalos.

    • Anna WoodsWritten on September 28, 2017
"Greninja has powerful smash attacks and is one of the fastest moving Pokemon in the game! But Greninja's speed and power are negated to some extent by the short range of some of its attacks and its reliance on the use of shielded moves. "
    • Bear AgarioWritten on September 26, 2017
"Hes helt is praty normal but his speed is whay beter and his capable to trow whater ninja stars i tink hi is the best pokemon because i tink wather pokemon arent the best types what all say plus he can conect to his traner // He didit in pokemon XYZ whit ash in a turnoment Like if you like Greninja"

Stoutland (Japanese: ムーランド Muurando) is a Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V. He is a quadrupedal mammalian canine Pokémon. Stoutlands are calm, caring, wise and loyal, but they'll be merciless to their opponents in battle. They have a great sense of smell and a thick fur coat.

    • Mary StevensWritten on September 28, 2017
"Stoutland is a very strong Pokemon who's been around for awhile. It might not be the strongest ever but it has some very strong attacks. It evolves from Lillipup who is extremely cute, which is an added bonus to Stoutland. "
    • Juan PhillipsWritten on September 28, 2017
"This showed only 1 Pokemon, and didn't indicate if this was THE best Pokemon or not. I would like to have seen a list of the (top 10 or 20) Pokemon of all time, along with details about them."
    • Zuhab BhattiWritten on September 26, 2017
"Stoutland is really a great pokemon due to its remarkable abilities to use electric, fire and ice type moves. Although it is a normal pokemon but it is quite intelligent, cute and lovely."

This Pokémon is said to live in a world on the reverse side of ours, where common knowledge is distorted and strange. Giratina is a dual-type Ghost/Dragon Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

    • Shaurya YadavWritten on September 28, 2017
"Giratina is the coolest pokemon ever! She's so strong she wipes the floor with pretty much every other pokemon she goes up against. Having all her stats easily at hand really helps to decide on those rare occasions I should play a different pokemon."
    • Q4TM I SparkzWritten on September 25, 2017
"Giratina in Platinum and beyond has always been a formidable opponent and is not a Pokemon to take lightly. With the Griseous Orb equipped Giratina not only looks cooler but is more powerful. A broad range of Moves automatically learned along with the ones that you can teach it yourself. Giratina deserves a high ranking on this list."

It chases people and Pokémon from its territory by causing them to experience deep, nightmarish slumbers. Darkrai is a Dark-type Mythical Pokémon. Cresselia is Darkrai's counterpart and rival, and together they form the Lunar Duo.

    • Víctor HidalgoWritten on September 28, 2017
"Darkrai is such a BA pokemon, guys. He gets into people's dream, it's so cool, definitely the best pokemon of all time. "
    • Pedro ComendaWritten on September 25, 2017
"My Favourite Pokemon as to be darkrai mainly because of the way he was portrayed in the movie, Now don't get me wrong, he isn't the best pokemon out there and i may not be to into the pokemon games but in the tcg he has one card with a nifty ability that got me out of a few situations. but anyway, I prefer the anime compared to the games and in the movie Rise of Darkrai, He managed to stop 2 of the 4 god pokemon: Dialga & Palkia. due to this Darkrai will always old a special place in my heart."
    • Han HanWritten on September 28, 2017
"This pokemon is really one of the best ones of all time i love the look of it."
    • Joshua ContrerasWritten on September 28, 2017
"This is one of the best pokemons because it is rare"

Psyduck is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Only the feet and bill are tan. The other body parts are all yellow. Psyduck has three black hairs on top of its head, and its hands are always on its head due to its constant headache.

    • Shaurya YadavWritten on March 25, 2017
"So I got a new nerdy girlfriend and she is super into Pokemons and I was trying to find more information about it, specifically the best Pokemons of All time. I visted http://pokemon.wikia.com and was able to find a Pokemon called Psyduck. It solved my problem and she was impressed with my knowledge of Pokemons."
    • Han HanWritten on April 23, 2017
"Pokémon has been awhile for quite some time, and is still a somewhat viable yet misguided endeavor. However, stating that the "Pokemon of All Time" is Psyduck seems to take no consideration in later generations of Pokémon characters."
    • Diana WuWritten on August 18, 2017
"I don't think the solution is a very good one because it only lists the ways that Psyduck is a useless pokemon. They fail to mention what his psychic powers are and that when Psyduck evolves he is very powerful. "

According to the legends of Sinnoh, this Pokémon emerged from an egg and shaped all there is in this world. Arceus is a Normal-Type Mythical Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

    • Joyce HillWritten on May 9, 2019
"Little did people know that Arceus is at its best and powerful when it is normal type/form. With regards to anime, he is the strongest pokemon of all, but in video game, I would go for mega rayquaza and mega mewtwo!"
    • Christina RichardsWritten on September 7, 2017
"I'm really into Pokemon and Arceus is one of my favorites. I think he's one of the best Pokemon of all time. He's really strong and has different forms. I use him in battles frequently and almost never lose. If you need a strong Pokemon, definitely check out Arceus (if you can find him)."
    • Reyansh ChattopadhyayWritten on September 29, 2017
"This solution is ok. It gives an answer that seems to be on point but the solution does not explain why it is the best pokemon of all time. I would need some kind of explanation for this."
    • Everything PerfectWritten on September 5, 2017
"I think the Arceus is the best Pokémon of all because I think it is a god Pokémon. It defeated Mewtwo in 6-7 episodes of Pokémon."

Dragonair stores an enormous amount of energy inside its body. It is said to alter weather conditions in its vicinity by discharging energy from the crystals on its neck and tail. Dragonair is Dragon-Type Pokémon in Generation I.

    • Jesse BerryWritten on September 7, 2017
"While this solution is alright, it could be better. The solution offers a ton of data on Dragonair, but really doesn't do enough comparing to other pokemon characters to inform us of why it is one of the best of all time. I would like to see more of a comparison, and for the data to be more organized. As it is, it is a little daunting to sift through and doesn't get to the heart of this problem/ question."
    • Carolyn WatsonWritten on October 1, 2017
"I was looking for a list of all the best Pokemon, and found this guy. It definitely does look like one of the best, but I was hoping to find more."
    • Tish WalkerWritten on September 4, 2017
"Because it doesn't have that quad weakness to ice like its final evolution does, plus it's pretty ."

Vaporeon is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Vaporeon underwent a spontaneous mutation and grew fins and gills that allow it to live underwater.

    • Carol ReynoldsWritten on September 4, 2017
"Pokemon has lasted for a long time, so there are quite a few of them. I can't say that Vaporeon makes the list of favorites or best of all time. It is an interesting Pokemon, but not one I get excited about."
    • Ignacio TovarWritten on September 7, 2017
"There are a lot of great Pokemon out there but I think Vaporeon is one of the best. He had a crazy mutation and he grew fins and gils and now he can live underwater. I think that's pretty bad ass. "

This Pokémon is so overwhelmingly powerful, it can bring down a whole mountain to make its nest. This Pokémon wanders about in mountains seeking new opponents to fight. Tyranitar is a dual-type Rock/Dark pseudo-legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation II.

    • Nancy GrayWritten on September 7, 2017
"Any time you pick a number one pokemon you're asking for trouble, because everyone's got their own favourite and while it's true some do have more merits than others, you'd be hard pressed to call one head and shoulders above everyone else. Still, Tyranitar is a great example and the reasoning is sound, so it's a decent answer."
    • John DayWritten on September 4, 2017
"Tyranitar deserves the title of best Pokemon of all time because of sheer size and power of will. If you have doubts, you should check out Tyranitar's rumbling earthquakes. It even lives in the rubble of mountains it demolishes."

Dragonite is a Dragon/Flying-Type Pseudo legendary Pokémon capable of circling the globe in just 16 hours. It is a kindhearted Pokémon that leads lost and foundering ships in a storm to the safety of land.

    • Richard LucasWritten on September 7, 2017
"I didn't know that there was a sort of taxidermy to all these Pokemon and similar characters, that must be a complicated game at some levels. Individuals are well explained and defined, even to the point of stats. This site seems to be an excellent jumping off point and has a host of related features pointing towards other entertainment sources."
    • María AcevedoWritten on September 4, 2017
"This is a wikipedia article for Dragonite, which is not a great source for finding in depth details about pokemon in the first place. There are much better sites for this sort of stuff."

Gyarados is a dual-type Water/Flying Pokémon introduced in Generation I. When Magikarp evolves into Gyarados, its brain cells undergo a structural transformation. It is said that this transformation is to blame for this Pokémon's wildly violent nature.

    • Evelyn MendozaWritten on September 4, 2017
"Given the number of Pokemons, I would not put Gyarados as one of the best of all time. I always found it a tad confusing given its evolution and think it took Pokemon down a path it didn't need to go in terms of getting more violent similar to other video games."
    • Julia CaballeroWritten on September 7, 2017
"Wanna impress your friends at the next Pokemon dual? Bust out a Gyarados and lay the smack down on those who would oppose you. Flying water dragon...what could be cooler? Now I have a reason not to discard those crappy Magikarp! "
