Luxray is an Electric-type Pokémon that was introduced in Generation IV. Luxray evolves from Luxio as of level 30. Luxray is the final evolution of Shinx. Luxray is based on a fully-grown lion with a blue coat and a black, spiked mane.

"Luxray has a rather limited skill pool but this is offset by its really high attack stat. Crunch is for Lucian while thunderfang is its best physical stab. Then some irontail and strength for coverage and you're good to go."

Torterra is the Grass/Ground-type Starter Pokémon of the Sinnoh region, evolved from Grotle and the final evolution of Turtwig. Torterra is a huge, four-legged turtle Pokémon and is mostly dark-green above the midsection.

"It's a great choice to go up against Lucian. Use Crunch for some important coverage then, Wood-hammer and Earthquake for stab. Pair it with Luxray for its high attack stat and thunderfang skill."

Floatzel is a Water Type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. Floatzel has many traits similar to a weasel, hence it being the 'Sea Weasel Pokémon'. Floatzel is the evolved form of Buizel, which can evolve into Floatzel at level 26.

"You can get Buizel very early in the game so this will be easier to plan out. Give it Ice beam or ice punch and it will do well against garchomp and should be able to out-speed it as well with a high enough level. Focus blast skill for some power and brick-break to cover."

Lucario is a Fighting/Steel-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. Lucario is the evolved form of Riolu. Riolu evolves into Lucario by leveling up with high friendship during the day. Lucario can evolve into its Mega form in Pokémon X/Y, during battle, with the Mega Stone known as Lucarionite.

"It takes a little longer to get him but once you reach Iron Island, you will. Aura-sphere is a nice stab skill. The extreme-speed skill is good for finishing things off quickly. It won't be as fast as garchomp but it could if leveled high enough."

Gengar is a Ghost/Poison-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Gengar is the evolved form of Haunter, by trade. It can further evolve into Mega Gengar by using its Gengarite.

"Get Gengar for your ghost/psychic pokemon as it will go against bugs, poison, and other psychic or dark pokemon. It also has a lot of special moves like thunderbolt which makes it very adaptable."

Alakazam is a Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Alakazam is the final form of Abra. Kadabra only evolves into Alakazam through trade. Alakazam can further evolve into Mega Alakazam using its Alakazite.

"Alakazam is a great choice for a ghost/psychic pokemon if you don't have Gengar. Both have high sp. attack stats and special moves. It has shockwave which is a nice sweeper move."

Staraptor is a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. Staraptor is the final evolved form of the common Pokémon Starly. When a Staravia grows to level 34, it will evolve into Staraptor, its final evolved form.

"A good pokemon to have for breaking down defensive cores. It has a solid 120 attack and 100 speed base stats. It doesn't have a particularly high defense so better get in those hits quick."

Rapidash is a Fire-type Pokémon introduced in Generation I. Rapidash is the evolved form of Ponyta at level 40. Rapidash is a cream-colored, equine Pokémon with red eyes and a long horn atop its head, similar to a unicorn.

"A non legendary pokemon in platinum but is your best bet against the Ice gym and you can get it early in the game. It's very fast, second only to flying types. Be cautious with ground and rock moves and you'll be fine. Thankfully as well, there is no water specialist in the Elite 4."
