DID YOU KNOW THAT?
Did you know that America’s first ever automobile race was in 1895? Six cars set out from Chicago and only two made it back. The Zippy Roadster was the winner of the 1895 race. Frank Duryea drove the car he and his brother designed and manufactured. He drove 52.4 miles in 10 hours and 23 minutes. In fact, the Duryea's are among the founding fathers of the American auto industry. Tracing back its roots, The Paris magazine Le Petit Journal initiated the first automobile racing in 1894. The sport was quickly spread to the United States.
According to Statista, among motorsports race teams, Ferrari is the most valuable Formula 1 team brand, with revenues of around 349 million U.S. dollars generated in 2016. Other teams include Mercedes and Mclaren. For race wins, Germany's Michael Schumacher is the most successful driver in the history of Formula 1, as well as by the number of world championship won, and the number of podium finishes. In today's auto industry, stock car racing has become one of the most popular sports in the country next to football and basketball. Games designed for racing are also in the new, these are developed and are made available in PCs, gaming devices, and even smartphones.
