"I liked this book for many reasons: it presented seeds in a way that i feel is approachable to children and I liked that it included more than typical seeds. There was additional text to read with facts on most pages. There was more text in this book than the egg book which means this book is not appropriate for preschool whereas I do use the egg book with preschoolers. I also felt the increase in text, though being very educational, took away from focusing on the images and comparing the seeds. Some of the larger seeds were cut off on the edges of the page so you could not tell their true size in order to make room for the text. I also took off one star because the cursive font (the main text for the book) was difficult for the children to read and they needed help. If you use the book with children 7+ who have been taught cursive, then this book should be fine"

"I bought this book for my little daughter. A Birthday For Frances, is such a cute little children's book. She instantly was drawn to the cute animals on the cover as well as the lush colors. She tells me to read it to her every night and during the days I find her just flipping through and looking at the beautiful illustrations. I have to say I love this book as much as she does because it really makes my days easier to have something that captures her attention. An added bonus is the story is also very funny to read through too. I make a lot of faces and accentuate certain lines which she loves. Have fun with this book and enjoy it with your kids."

"With themes and words too complicated for the majority of kindergarteners, I think this book would be better suited for maybe second graders. If they are interested in marine or aquatic life and have someone to explain some of the more technical words in the book then maybe they can have a better time with the book, but reading it on their own I don't think a five year old would be able to understand much that's going on."
