In order to get a better perspective on where we are and where we're going, it's good to read where we came from. This book is a classic and is tough reading, but rewarding! "As a child of immigrant parents who came to the US as refugees, I find it fascinating and interesting to read historical as well as fictional novels on the struggles that immigrants face. The Ministry of Pain: A Novel is a recent book I came across and gave it a read. I found some of the writing to be a bit dry but I guess it's expected from a story of this nature. It's heavy handed on the politics and calls a deep insightful look into the specific culture of being from a war torn country. I feel the perspective the story takes is one that is of interest but it definitely is not an easy read. This story has been translated and perhaps some of the intent has been lost in translation or just slightly skewed but it didn't flow well for me at all."
