"Heinlein is not one of my favorite authors, and his work comes across as very dated. The ideas and stories just don't hold up well, and this title doesn't either. I don't think anyone should bother with his stuff. It feels very silly."

"Ok, I am a huge sci-fi fan and had heard of this book from a friend and finally decided I needed to read it. This book is absolutely awesome. It's great sci-fi but it doesn't take itself seriously it has great humor and is just so much fun to read. It is an instant classic and I am certain it will be read many times by myself and my family in the years to come."

"This book certainly sets itself up for a smash hit sequel. The writing style is fantastic, you think you know where the story takes you and then it sends you into an entirely different direction. The description of the environment is what really caught my attention. It has my imagination running wild with beautiful landscapes, mountains, caves, rivers, and much more! Great choice if you're into sci-fi books, definitely pick it up."

"I bought this book for my husband who is an avid reader who loves to read "classic" books. I found this book in a blog under the best recommended science fiction novels. My husband could not put this book down. I actually had to read it after because he wouldn't stop raving about it. I must say, this book should be considered a "classic" and handed out in high school classes! Great book."

"I hate that I don't really know how to feel about this book. The characters were really well written and I thought that the author took a lot of time and care into crafting the setting, but unfortunately the plot just doesn't hold up and skips around a lot. That was really disappointing and I feel like the book could have been more cohesive. "

"Concrete Island really surprised me in a good way. I was expecting a run of the mill sci-fi novel but instead got something that was rather refreshing. The story unfolds as a character in peril but it quickly evolves into something much, much more. It's a story that's told under the surface, meaning it's laced with metaphors, so you're going to have to stretch your imagination as well as your abstract thinking, but trust me it's well worth it. What I find refreshing are the many ways you can interpret this story after you've finished it and put it down. This is the kind of sci-fi reading I love to really get wrapped up into."

"Contact is such a chilling name for a book in this genre. I mean thinking of the name alone, it's a book about contact, with lifeforms we once thought was a myth. Books like these are very interesting science fiction novels because they typically have that narrative where it builds up to the climax of meeting another lifeform for the first time."
