"This wasn't my type of book based on the fantasy part of it. If you're into the Lord of the Rings then this would be a great book to start at."

"Typical teenage fare. I'd recommend this book for someone 15-16 years old, but even they might be bored with it. Your usual teenage supernatural love story set in a world inhabited by werewolves. Been there, done that. But again, I'm not the target demographic. "

"If you like mermaids, you'll love this book. And if you usually don't like mermaids, then maybe it's time to change your mind. At first, I wasn't interested in this book because it seemed girly (mermaids? romance?), but there are a lot of layers and it's darker than it first appears. I don't want to spoil anything but the author does a great job of keeping you on the hook."

"Laini Taylor is just amazing. Collecting teeth? Monsters and angels? War, love, betrayal, reincarnation... those are thematic of really great mythology and stories, and she was able to take all of those things and write a story that was unpredictable and beautiful. Obviously, I enjoyed the book immensely, and I want to know more about the other world. "

"I have mixed emotions about this book. I'm a parent so this is coming from an adult reading a book meant for teens, but the plot is getting old. On the other hand, my teenager loved this book so his recommendation is that you read it. He is reading and that's a wonderful thing. But, honestly, there are better choices out there."
