The 1987 film called Julia and Julia is one of the first high definition movies released. During the 1980s, Sony sparked the concept of electronic cinematography with the use of their analog Sony HDVS professional video cameras. Julia and Julia also known as Giulia e Giulia was first released at the Venice Film Festival which is considered the world’s oldest film festival and included in the so-called “Big Three” film festivals with Berlin International Film Festival and Cannes Film Festival.
This remarkable Italian film was directed by Peter Del Monte starring Kathleen Turner, Gabriel Byrne, and Sting. The person in charge for Julia and Julia’s cinematography is named Giuseppe Rotunno. Giuseppe Rotunno also known or credited as Peppino Rotunno is an Italian cinematographer who was nominated for Best Cinematography for a film called “All That Jazz” in the Academy Award. This brilliant cinematographer was also the first non-American member of the prestigious group called American Society of Cinematographers. In the present Digital cinema days, Paramount Pictures Corporation became the first ever mainstream studio that distributes movies to theatres in a digital format. The 2013 film, The Wolf of Wall Street which is also distributed by Paramount Pictures was dubbed as the first full-length film that was distributed completely digitally.
