"I have always been fascinated with learning other dialects, and normally I use some expensive software to get the training I need. But when my interest came to learning Hebrew, I saw this video series listed in my Google search results and decided to give it a try. It might not look like much at first, but this has been one of the best tools for learning a new language I have ever used, and this is after using all of the big name programs that already cost a fortune and then make you buy the individual language packs. It hasn't been a very long time since I started this series but I can already handle simple dialogue in Hebrew and have been very impressed with this series' constant updates and presentation."

"This book has been used mainly at Ulpan for graduated students. Although, it is considered a beginner level, you should take in consideration that it is very intense and it is not at all like other Hebrew methods I dealt with. (For example, for the alphabet and reading exercises take only 2 or 3 pages, then the author jumps into the language right away) This method is based mostly on exercises following the grammar rule. There are some texts but a lot of exercises. I you want more texts, you will need to need to 2 other volumes. At the end of each unit, you get a complete summary of the vocabulary and grammar and also at the end of the book there is a dictionary. (which you won't find in the 2 other volumes)"

"I found this book while looking for a self-study option. It is very well tailored for my needs and I already feel like I'm getting a lot from the textbook. I haven't tested my Hebrew skills with anyone that actually speaks Hebrew yet, but I'm starting to feel more confident. I recommend giving this book a try if you're looking to study Hebrew."

Did you know that Hebrew almost became the official language of America instead of English? Interestingly, the United States is the second largest Hebrew-speaking nation with 220,000 fluent speakers, next to Israel—the native land of Hebrew language. According to history, an English man named William Bradford once embarked on a journey to the New World (also known as the Americas), a general term used to call most of Earth’s Western Hemisphere, to seek freedom from religious persecution in 1960. Before they disembarked from the ship Mayflower, a consensus was taken as to which language would the new settlers of the Americas would use—English or Hebrew. Interestingly, Hebrew lost by only one vote. After almost two centuries, the Hebrew language was once again considered to substitute English as the official American language because pioneers had an extreme dislike of the British, including their language. While Hebrew is considered to be a holy language, it took a long break of 2000 years after it was revived again in the 19th century. As interesting as the history of their native language, the Holy Land has so much more in store for the natives and non-natives from its historic places such as Masada, the Old City of Jerusalem, Tower of David, just to name a few, to their food like the famous humus masabacha and falafel.

"Sure you can buy any old book that promises to teach you Hebrew once you are done, but I wanted something that I knew took care and effort to create. When I found the book titled Hebrew and Israel First Steps I knew I stumbled on something great. It's important to learn the language and the culture and I think that learning both at the same time helps you to be immersed in it and see why the language changes and the reasons for it. With each chapter you are taken to a new part of Israel and you are taught a few things about that part of Israel. Additionally, if you struggle with grammar and sounding out things like I do you will love the fact that this book is chalk full of exercises to help you out with whatever you are struggling with in every chapter. "Learning Hebrew is extremely challenging. Hebrew podcasts offer a great way to supplement Hebrew lessons. Listening to the conversation helps to practice, but the supplemental materials are really the best part. Full transcripts, video lessons and quizzes, all tools that would be at a teacher's fingertips, are now tools available to help supplement regular lessons or for those who wish to self-teach."

"A lot of people don't like to be taught something because they don't want to seem foolish, or be embarrassed. Learning to teach yourself though is a great way to get away from the ladder. If you can teach yourself a language you should set yourself to learn virtually anything."

It is very helpful that the app is available on my mobile phone, since I do not have to be tied to my desktop computer to use it. Being able to listen to recorded voices, and making my own voice recordings in the language is a good way to help my learning."

"When I clicked on this link, I thought I would be able to start learning some Hebrew. Instead, it presents a free app to learn Hebrew. I liked that there were so many reviews (over 6000) and that more than 4000 of those reviews gave it 5 stars. One thing I noticed about the app was that there was the ability to record yourself say a Hebrew word or phrase and know if it properly matched the correct pronunciation. That was definitely appealing to me."
