"The past few years, I've been eating out several times a week. I absolutely love Chinese food, but it's really breaking the bank and flattening my wallet eating out all the time. I had decided that I wanted to learn how to cook some good Chinese food. I looked up a bunch of recipes on Cooking Channel: Chinese Cooking but totally expected it to not be very authentic tasting. Boy was I wrong! A lot of the recipes taste exactly like Chinese takeout! I was never much of a cook, but I've been making some great recipes and making them taste wonderful!"

"I found this pretty helpful, since I'm a novice at cooking in general - not just cooking Chinese food. I really appreciated that it gave a brief overview of what each method WAS, and what utensils I would need, since I don't always have things, like a wok, and don't want to buy one. It was really helpful when it gave links to recipes."

"I often crave Chinese food, but it can get expensive and unhealthy to eat out so often. I'm intimidated to try to cook Chinese homemade because I feel like I could never get the seasonings just right. These recipes show how easy it is to actually replicate these items of food, and some might even taste better."

"This Youtube channel is in some ways a useful resource, but I have some problems with it. For starters, there isn't a place where you can download recipes. It's not helpful to me if I have to play the video every time I prepare the dish. Secondly, what makes this guy an expert on Chinese cooking? It's not clear to me. "

I thought that About's page on tips and techniques for learning how to cook Chinese was a great utility for broadening my understanding. "The book is great if you're looking for good soup recipes. It's not a Chinese food cookbook at all, nor is it a "learning to cook" book. The recipes are good and I've used them quite often when I'm looking for a quick meal and don't want to spend hours in front of the stove. I use it mostly on the weekends because some of the recipes warrant a longer time frame for cooking. There is good variety in this cookbook and it's great value for the price. "
