"I seriously have to question the sanity of anyone who recommends only Bank of America of American banks. This makes this not a very useful site for Americans travelling abroad. There is really no reason to be paying ATM fees anywhere these days and one does not have to be abused by Bank of America in order to avoid fees."

"I so happy to see someone else that hates Bank of America! I would totally follow this guy on Facebook and Twitter for travel information. Even though he doesn't have the most exciting background and set up around him, he has a lot of great information for travelers. I think I may just have to look into Charles Schwab for a checking account since there are no monthly fees and you never have to pay to use an ATM anywhere in the world. That is great information since the fees really add up. "

"Spending 6 months abroad in Europe? Check out this informative article by Fodor's Travel - Fodor's was and still is the world's best source of travel info. Great tips for young and old alike. This article dispelled some advice I was given - Fodor's says do not not allow a foreign business to charge your credit card in US dollars! Tons of hidden fees and charges. As someone who travels frequently for work, I ALWAYS did that as it was easier for expense report purposes. You learn something new everyday. If I learned something from this article, you can too. Give it a read - you won't be sorry."
