"As an avid book-lover, I try to collect the first edition of my favorite titles. My go-to store is definitely Powell's. I order online and all my shipping arrive on time. The jewel of my collection is a first edition copy of Gone With the Wind, which I keep in my quaint little library alongside my other precious tomes. "

"This is a great site to shop for used books. I've recently purchased a copy of The Perks of Being a Wallflower and the quality is very good, almost brand new. I really hope people would start buying more used books as it's disheartening to see a book get thrown in the trash. "

"BookMooch is a wonderful site where you can trade books with others and at the same time gain new friends. I am not one to waste a perfectly good book but I really don't see the point of holding on to it once you've finished reading it. In BookMooch I've exchanged at least 20 books for 20 new titles, and I'm planning to trade those as well for newer ones. You only pay for shipping which isn't really much which beats buying a brand new paperback. So many books to read, so little time! "

"I'm currently in my sophomore year in grad school and you can imagine the expenses that I have as I'm paying my own tuition through teaching. On top of that, the textbooks that we are required to purchase are so freaking expensive! That's why I'm so grateful for this site as I've found cheap used copies of all my textbooks in it. It's a real life-saver. You can also rent textbooks here BTW. "

"I used to shop online for used books on Amazon but oftentimes the books were tattered and dog-eared. A friend who's also a bibliophile recommended Alibris as this site was more focused on selling used books. She was right! I always find what I'm looking for usually in mint condition. It's the best resource to find used and out-of-print books for me. "

"Thriftbooks and Best World Books are my favorite shops to find rare and used books. I use one or the other whenever what I'm looking for is unavailable. I recently bought a hardbound copy of the Prince and the Pauper and it's gorgeous. "

"The Strand Bookstore on Broadway has been around for eons and is the best store to find used, rare and out-of-print books. The store itself is ginormous and a trip to New York wouldn't be complete if you don't visit this historic site and purchase at least one book. I've bought early edition copies of classics by Jane Austen, Sylvia Plath and Emily Brontë there. Do try to go to Strand when you're in Manhattan! "

"I've bought used college textbooks from Abe Books and it's basically like eBay. You have to make sure to buy ONLY from reputable vendors. Always check user reviews before purchasing. Also, verify if the book isn't an international edition as they tend to be printed on cheaper paper. "
