"How to Make Your Own Video Game provides a really nice structure for tackling this daunting task. It doesn't solve any creative hurdles or give you inspiration, but it gives a framework for going about the project that can be quite useful. I've always loved games and wanted to make one, but found the thought of it overwhelming. The step-by-step process provided by How to Make Your Own Video Game really helped me. But again, the vast majority of work still rests with you. This program just helped me stay focused on what I should be working on next."

"What a great starting guide for anyone interested in making video games. I was just starting out in this area and frankly didn't know much about it, but this article really provides the basics on what I would need to make a video game as well as giving me some really important pointers as well as letting me know what sort of software and hardware I would need. Goes really in-depth, one article of course can't cover all the aspects of making a game, but this one is really a fantastic starting point."

"Jimmy Vegas seems to make tutorials on making video games. He is mostly concerned with a single resource (not resources) - Unity 5. He specializes in tutorials for Unity 5. The videos seem very throrough as they are organized into playlists, and the video titles seem to explain specific concepts in a very comprehensive way. This sort of thing looks like it would cost money but Jimmy Vegas provides them for free. This seems like a good tool to learn how to make a Role Playing Game, and the view counts (tens of thousands) are a testament to that. "

"The focus of this website is more about networking and social interaction between indie game developers. It's a place for them to discuss their experiences and make connections with other developers. They do share a page that has a list of resources, but it is a list of resources hosted on other sites rather than something "Indie Game Developers" provides themselves. It does appear to be a well curated list by people who would have experience with using them. They also offer groups so that you can seek resources directly from other indie game developers who network through the site. "

This will help you make a very specific type of RPG, so maybe if you just want to get your feet wet with game development, this would be a good start."

"I love playing video games, and I've dipped my toes in the coding waters a bit, so developing my own game is an idea I've been kicking around for a while. RPG Maker does offer quite a few features and flexibility, so as to be good for novice builders and those who've had some experience with coding. With that said, I don't know that an RPG is the type of game I'd like to make per say, and I don't think this particular tool delivers quite as much as free alternatives like Unreal and Unity, both of which offer the potential to make more polished games. When I was looking for resources to make video games, I meant more in terms of art, music, and guides, not so much the development software itself."
