Feeling guilty about torrenting the latest season of The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones? Don't worry, you are not alone. According to a study by antipiracy firm Muso, more than 53% who committed digital piracy agreed what they are doing is wrong. Such honesty, right? Unsurprisingly, greater than 80% of these honest modern pirates said they would've consumed these movies or television series legally had they been more affordable or are already included in the content subscription they already have. Even low-cost solutions like Netflix and Spotify weren't able to prevent people from visiting torrenting sites, which saw more than 300 billion visits in 2017 alone. The study, which took place in U.K., indicate that accessibility is the problem, not just high prices. “We want to fundamentally challenge the perception that piracy audiences will not pay for content,” said Muso chief commercial officer Paul Briley.
While it will be a long time before watching fresh GoT episodes or the latest Hollywood releases become free, there are more than a handful of resources to watch free movies, legally! There are streaming applications like Sony Crackle, Hotstar, and Youtube, which show some great movies and television shows for free (and even without the cost of conscience). Most of these apps also have versions of free movie-streaming sites. You may not be updated with the latest TWD season or you might loosen up the strings of your purse if you want to watch the next hit superhero movie, but using these legal streaming resources may save you a couple nights of deep sleep!
