"The story has been told many times before. This is a slightly new take on it. I was not bored by the familiarity. I really liked this book."

"This is perfect! I wanted to find a book that had a unique version of Beauty and the Beast as its storyline, to give to my niece for her 13th birthday. This is a little bit darker, but with the same moral. Just what I was looking for!"

"I like to read lots of books. I just finished Cruel Beauty. As a huge fan of Beauty and the Beast. This book does a good job retelling the story in a much different way. I never could predict what would happen next so this was more exciting for me. I do not like predictable and this book is not. I really liked the story and will likely read it again in a few months. "I love Beauty and the Beast especially remakes and retellings of the story. I had been looking for a good one for the past few months with no luck until I found Beastly (Kendra Chronicles). This version is so good! I was in a trance as I watched it and am so happy I found it. Check it out for yourself."

"This book is broken into three main parts. The first part is used to set the scene and tell the backstories of Beauty and her family. Beauty lives with her two sisters--Hope and Grace--and her Father (who is as eccentric as old Maurice). Father's ships are lost in consecutive storms, and their family is forced to sell their possessions and move to a smaller town with Hope's fiance to live a simpler life. This section--in my opinion--was too long and dense. I found it hard to stay interested and had to really FORCE myself to keep reading. The sentences and general structure of the individual chapters seemed to drag on forever, and while I was intrigued by the story, I did find myself wanting to stop and move onto another book on multiple occasions"

"This rendition of Beauty and the Beast is more for the serious crowd. While it was incredibly good, it gets much sadder than the original book and movie. Be ready to experience a new level of creativity with this one."

"The way these books are written are horrible. The story is great until you reach the middle when it suddenly just ends. Then, if you want the rest of the story you have to purchase the additional books. What happened to each book standing on it's own? Definitely skip this book unless you want to be disappointed. I'm only giving it a 1 because the author put in work to write this book."

"This is a collection of darker, thoughtful spins on popular folk tales. Two stories in the collection, The Tiger's Bride and Puss-in-Boots, remind the reader of Beauty and the Best. The tone, however, is very different. I think this is a collection meant for a very particular adult reader, not a generic retelling of fairy tales. "

"I've always been partial to re-imaginings of fairy tales, so the idea of a retelling of Beauty and the Beast caught my eye when I was shopping around for books online. It was 'Sun and Moon, Ice and Snow' by Jessica Day George, and reviews were good, so I bought a copy. Unfortunately it turned out to be kind of a kid's book, and if that's what you want, it might be fine. I was looking for a darker, edgier, more adult retelling, and in that respect it wasn't so good."

"This is a nice retelling of the classic and much-loved story of Beauty and the Beast. The ending was a tiny bit of a letdown but the book was an enjoyable read nevertheless. I like the way the book depicted the Beast, who I've always empathised with. The endless descriptions of roses did bore me a little but other than that I liked this book."

"I love Beauty and the Beast. Despite some people's misgivings about a so-called "Stockholm syndrome", I consider it to be the greatest fairy tale classic of all time. So I don't really appreciate it when someone tries to make a really deplorable "darker and edgier" version of the timeless tale which twists that Stockholm syndrome angle to shocking effect. This is honestly about as low-brow and nonintellectual a take on that concept as you could get, too, and it was just too obvious where the story was headed. Pass on this one."
