"Although Scarlet is a brilliant retelling of Robin Hood from a different standpoint (from a woman among the Merry Men), it's not exactly what I'm looking for. Scarlet seems to be a brilliant novel about a woman's journey to fight despite her gender."

"The stories in this book are *NOT* re-tellings, they are new, so if you're looking for stories that you have already come to no and love, you will be disappointed. Only buy this book if you like fairytales in general and want to hear some new ones. "

"This book was pretty lame. Confusing plot and poorly developed characters. It was very difficult to want to keep reading this book and to pick it back up when i had put it down. Suffice to say it was just a very boring book that did nothing to engage me."

"This was cute; a retelling of a classic fairy tale will have its pluses and minuses, but this one sort of misses the mark for me. I'm probably too old for this particular version, as I found it overly simplistic."

"A friend recommended this book to me and I am so glad she did. This is accurately described as an "adult fairy tale." I would not say this book is for children because it is very graphic and some of the implications are very dark. However, as an adult I loved the creepiness of the tale! Great story and great book."

""The Bloody Chamber" retells several classic fairy tales in more macabre and sexualized ways. Stories that could previously be construed as kind of sexist are often given feminist overtones in their re-writings. Sometimes, though, the author loses track of the narrative by being overly descriptive of minor story elements. Some of the re-tellings are too similar to the originals, but I suppose that is kind of the point. This seems like a decent solution to a very specific desire to read a certain fairy tell re-imagining. "
