"This is not one of R.L. Stine's greatest but it is his first. I think there are better places to begin (as they are all different) but this is a great story nonetheless."

"A little fun blast from the past. To me all the books in the series are at the same level, and I can't really remember one from my childhood that stuck out as being really better, or more scary than the others. They all mix together in my memory into one big lump of cheesy made-for-kids horror. And this one is no different. Is it good? It's good, cheap, cheesy fun for the young horror lover. It's honestly written but not certainly not inspired - it does the job. "
