"This book is composed in a sloppy manner. The characters and story are all over the place. The worst part about it is that the romance portion that I'm looking for is written with little chemistry build up."

"Melanie Dickerson’s The Captive Maiden is a fairy tale romance, much like my favorite story, Cinderella. However, this is no Cinderella. While I was entertained, this story is trite and predictable. I like to enjoy a book so much that it makes me sad to reach the end, but this one did not make me feel this way. I probably will forget I read this one in time. This was just “okay”."

"This is the best solution yet. I have heard of this book and think this is a totally valid solution to this problem. Though I have never read it, touches on issues in the hearts of many people of color. This of course is all in the back drop of what I imagine to be a truly great romantic story."

"If one is looking for a romance book about captivity, then I'm only going to give this rating a "2" as this book is more of a fantasy book and less of a romance book. This is a new fantasy series that is a take on the Alice in Wonderland fairy tale. This series takes the basic characters from the fairy tale and evolves them into much more animated characters in this fantasy series. I found the book to be very fast paced and entertaining. However, I don't see this as a romance book and if one is looking for a good romance book about captivity, there are a lot of other books where the hero or heroine gets captured and placed into captivity before being able to escape and save themselves."

"I am a romantic at heart. And as a modern day woman, nothing gets my heart beating than a romance based on captivity. Who wouldn't want to be rescue by a handsome man when they are helpless and scared? This book does a wonderful job of attracting its audience and drawing them in all the way to the last page. As the 6th book in this series, it did not disappoint. As with the rest of the series, the writing is superb. Don't think, just buy it! "
