"When I was a college student, I used to have a penpal. We were both artists who used to exchange notes and tips. Our writing however was very short-lived and did not go anywhere. Zapata's book however tells the story of a person, Ruby, who has a penpal Aaron who is a soldier overseas. Their back and forth writing takes them from initial meeting, to friendship to relationship to romance. It goes far. Its an interesting read. We all wonder sometimes how far we can go in terms of getting to know people via written communication. This story explores that."

"I'm usually not a sucker for romance novels. Especially ones dealing with penpals. I like more suttle ones. I really enjoyed her book and will look for more in the series. It had it hot moments but it also had some cold ones. I picked it up after seeing it recommended in a group and people were raving about it. It definitely lived up to the hype and I will be reading more by this author."

Love can be found and fostered through many creative ways. I love the way the partners can express and enjoy through other means. I loved it."

"I was not expecting to get into this book nearly as much as I did. I loved the WWII setting and the author really used some nice historical tidbits to make everything feel real. Plus Mellie Blake is such a fascinating character and I really like how she grew over the story."

" One of my favorite childhood memories was writing letters to my pen pal from summer camp. It’s not really something that our children experience in the modern world, so it was very refreshing to come across this storyline. You’ll enjoy the read for sure and hopefully it will take you back to the days when you were excited to get a letter, instead of just a beep from your cell phone."
