"IMO this is one of the best RTS games on Steam due to its unique feel to it. Maybe its just me but MOST fo the RTS games I see are about swords and shields. Very rarely do you see a game where you control people with guns and in realistic scenarios lol"

Playing it on my widescreen monitor in full HD, diving right into the nostalgia and memories I've missed, was a great experience. The multiplayer support was the best; it's been so long since I could play this game reliably with friends!"

"This would be a good RTS game on Steam for someone that wants a game with both single and multi-player options. It also has a Metacritic score of 80, which means 4 out of 5 game critics thought the game was good, so it will be enjoyed by most people. It also focuses on playing as Russia against Germany, which is something that not many let you do. Most of the time you play as the USA."

WHAT'S THE MEANING?

Real-Time Strategy games, or RTS games, are games that require players to simultaneously gather resources and then manage them to build units and buildings to secure areas of the game map and/or destroy their opponents' base. The term was coined by game producer Brett Sperry in the 1990s when he used it to describe and promote the game Dune II.

DID YOU KNOW?

Westwood Studios' Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty opened the door for the modern real-time strategy games after it was released by Virgin Games in December 1992 and became a critical success. It is a game based on the 1984 movie Dune,  which was in turn based on Frank Herbert's futuristic science fiction book of the same name. It is a game where players must choose one of the three houses in the game and use that house to dominate the game map by beating the other two houses. Upon its release, it was lauded for its superior sound and graphics, along with its easy-to-use controls and gameplay. It was awarded the Game of the Month of September by Amiga User International in 1993 and was rated 92% out of 100% by game reviewer Electronic Games before receiving the Strategy Game of the Year award of 1993 by Computer Gaming World. Because of its success in the market, it was followed by numerous RTS games, some of which enjoyed financial success too, like Electronic Arts' Total Annihilation, StarCraft and Westwood's own series, the Command and Conquer series.

It has some of the same feels as the iconic AoE II, with a lot of new stuff to play with. It is certainly very tough trying to make something better than its predecessor, but overall was a very good game."

"For an RTS game, this one has a bit of a different feel. If you are familiar with other games, it may seem odd at first, and difficult to deal with, but once you get into into it makes for a good experience. Basically, a key twist here is that you are focusing on battles from a vantage point that is very broad, and organizing armies that spread across the map. You feel sort of like a demigod, directing your minions as they smash your enemies, but when things get out of control, you also feel scope of the disaster. To get the most from this you've got to develop an intuitive feel for how to manage your hordes."

When I put away my empires and get on with my day, the stories that have played out in these digital worlds embed themselves in my brain, and I so desperately want to tell people about them. Both games tickle the part of my brain that wants every battle to have some greater context, every move I make to be part of a larger narrative. Stellaris manages to do this without history to lean on, though"

"Steam is the gold standard for PC gaming, and with more and more gamers looking for that perfect RTS game, providers need to be able to offer such games, in secure and reliable environments. DOTA 2 is one of the most fun games I have ever played and has been a staple of my game playing experience for years. This game has ridiculous depth, and I am always learning new things. That being said it also pretty easy for a beginner to come to the game and enjoy the game instantly. "
